Steve started his working life as an apprentice lithographer and then later joined the navy as a radio operator. But neither calmed his long held desire to become a photographer and so he enroled for a course in photography and design at the Newcastle College of Arts and Technology in the North East of England.
After moving to London and working as an assistant for a period in 1986 he started up on his own shooting still life and architecture for ad agencies, design groups, etc.
Following a move to Milan in Italy in 1990 he undertook commissions for Publicis FCB/MAC, Impact and other agencies. He also worked for Casa Vogue and Amica magazines, and shot interiors and room sets for Spazio Casa.
Since 1995 he has been based in Rome where he has worked for a number of agencies including Saatchi & Saatchi, Young & Rubicam, McCann, TBWA, BBDO Milan and Publicis of Munich on jobs for clients such as Siemens, Piaggio, iGuzzini lighting, Teuco, Sony, Intersos, Erg Petroli and Corriere della Sera. He also completed a series of photographs of works of art in the Borghese Gallery.
Although continuing to shoot still life he has broadened his portfolio to include people, portraiture and reportage.
