Paolo Sorrentino. Neopolitan-born Italian screenwriter, novelist and film director. He wrote and directed "The Grande Bellezza"; ("The Great Beauty" in English) which won the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar at the 2014 Academy Awards. His first feature film was made in 2001, called "L'uomo in più." In 2008 he directed "Il Divo." a film loosely based on former Italian prime minister Giulio Andreotti. In 2011 his film "This Must Be The Place" starring Sean Penn was presented at The Cannes Film Festival. Since his success with The Great Beauty he has written and directed "Youth" (2015) and is the creator and director of the television series "The Young Pope" starring Jude Law. He has written a novel called "Hanno tutti ragione," and a book of short stories.
