Donna Tartt is a Mississippi born American writer. In 1981 she enrolled at the University of Mississippi, leaving a year later to study at Bennington College in Vermont where she started writing her first novel, later to be published under the name of "The Secret History" in 1992, which sold out its first print run and went on to be translated into 24 languages. Ten years passed before her second novel arrived "The Little Friend." A book about a girl from the Deep South and her preteen obsession with the unresolved death of her brother when she was just an infant. Her third novel "The Goldfinch" was released in October 2013, and running to over 700 pages has been described as "hypnotic" and "Dickensian."
